Nantucket Ant Control
Have you ever been in the middle of cooking a meal, only to look down and notice ants crawling on your counters, in the sink, even on your food? It’s not a pleasant sight. What’s worse than having ants is how difficult it is to eliminate them. Nantucket ant control is crucial; not only are ants a nuisance, but some ants can severely damage property.
You may have tried any number of over-the-counter or do-it-yourself solutions, but there’s simply too much to enjoy on Nantucket to be battling ant invasions. Armed with the latest science, leading products, and a can-do attitude, Nantucket Pest Management’s team of ant experts can help you take back your home.
What kind of ants are these?
The United States is home to over 1,000 species of ants, but here on Nantucket you’re most likely to encounter the carpenter ant, odorous house ant, and pavement ant. These ants are all unique and pose distinct challenges. While generally little more than an annoyance, some ants, like the carpenter ant, can do serious damage belying their small stature.
Why me? Why my house?
Ants need three basic things to survive: Food, water, and shelter. Put yourself in an ant’s shoes—Would a colony find effortless food sources, or moisture in or around your home? If ants are denied these items, they will have no choice but to march on.
Are these ants dangerous?
Generally, ants on Nantucket are little more than a nuisance. They are not highly poisonous, typically not aggressive, and as such pose very little threat to people or pets. Carpenter ants, however, are capable of compromising the structural integrity of buildings, which can be a danger.
I’ve tried everything, with no luck. What will you do differently?
Clients often call us after they’ve tried store-bought products or home remedies, with little or no success. What makes self-treating so problematic is that the ants you see are just the tip of the iceberg, likely foraging for food to bring back to a colony hiding somewhere you can’t see. Over-the-counter or homemade products may kill the foraging ants, but will not affect the colony and often simply encourages them to move to another location in your house.
Integrated Pest Management combines traditional applications with organic and environmental controls, eliminating the ant colonies invading your home.
